Lucky for us good men (and women), teh internets have made it easier and easier for the would-be activist to get! active! already!
Many organizations send out daily, weekly, and/or monthly newsletters, email alerts, and general updates. I belong to well over 50 such lists, most of which address animal rights, animal welfare, or environmental issues. Those that are relevant, informative, and/or actionable are crossposted or excerpted on easyVegan.info (depending on copyright issues, of course). Each item, in turn, is posted under the parent category “Action Alerts,” and is also filed under the subcategory corresponding to the organization from which it originated. Voilà! – Blog browsing made easy!

On behalf of my more enterprising readers, I’ve compiled a list of all my action alert sources. Call it my activist’s toolkit. The catalog is arranged by topic, with animal rights and welfare resources at the top, followed by alerts from green groups. Rounding out the list are organizations that deal with “other” issues, such as human rights, feminism, church/state separation, that sort of thing. No, none of these are directly related to improving the plight of animals, but I’m the sort of gal who thinks that different types of oppression are intertwined. As a secular humanist, it would be irresponsible for me to ignore all those other “isms” (not to mention self-disinterested, as some of these affect me, and by extension, my ability to effect change in the realm of animal rights).
