I'm so sorry for your loss, Matt. Dogs have such precious short lives as it is; even more so when you open your heart and home to a special needs or senior dog. All you can do is squeeze as much love and compassion into the time you do have with them. Take comfort in knowing that Igor had you in the end.

Dog bless!

Thank you so much for publishing this. I am having a hard time writing now through the tears thinking about my babies. I currently have 3 pugs named Frankenstein, Chloe, and Delilah. A couple of years ago we had to put Igor down. He was a pug that we found at a rescue. He had been horribly abused and neglected. His previous "owners" had not even taken him to the vet when he broke a leg, so he had a bad limp. He was 11 years old when we got him, and friends and family said we were crazy for adopting him, since he wasn't going to live long. I fell in love with him the moment I saw him, so we took him home. I believe we gave him the best 1 1/2 years of his life, but even more, what he gave us in those few months was unmeasurable. He was my baby. He followed me around the house and kept my feet warm wherever I sat. He was a wonderful dog. I miss him so much. Thank you again for posting your story.
